Vegetable Competition
Veg takes on all form, competition for best figure or animal made completely with vegetables.

MEMBERS of Ledbury branch of the Women's Section of the Royal British Legion raided the vegetable rack when they went to their monthly meeting last week.

The competition, for the best figure or animal made completely with vegetables, attracted some very interesting exhibits.

Judging, by members who placed a coin against what they considered was the best entry, resulted in a doll made from parsnips and carrots, with the roots of a leek as a "wig" taking first prize for Mrs GRIMES. Mrs Mary PENWARNE took second prize with an elephant made from parsnips.

Vice-chairman Mrs G. HOBBY was elected delegate for the West Midlands Area Conference to be held on Wednesday, February 6th at Cheitenharr Town Hall. Mrs J. DAVIS will be delegate to the National Conference in Blackpool at the end of April.

A social half hour ended the meeting.

Sponsored Knit

A sponsored knit-in by members of the Ladies Section of Ledbury Royal British Legion earlier this year got the needles clicking on behalf of the Cottage Hospital.

The effort raised a total of £120 for the appeal by the hospiatl Friends to finance alterations to the hospital, and Mrs D HOBBY is pictured presenting a cheque for that amount to Friends' chairman Mr Bill MASEFIELD.
