LEDBURY TERRITORIAL SHOT
STATED TO BE AN ACCIDENT WITH A REVOLVER
CONDITION SATISFACTORY AND HOPEFUL
The startling news was received in Ledbury this week that Private Percy TAYLOR, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Taylor, Church Street, Ledbury, who is with C Company 1st Herefordshire Regiment, had been shot. The regiment left Northampton on Monday last for Woodbridge. It appears that the affair was an accident caused by the accidental discharge of a revolver, through which Private TAYLOR received an injury to his side. We are unable at present to give details as to how the mishap actually occurred, but we are glad to say that the injury is not likely to prove a fatal one. At present there are no bad symptoms. Yesterday (Thursday) the young man's parents in Ledbury received a reassuring telegram from the adjutant of the 1st Battalion Hereford Regiment to the effect that their son's condition that morning was satisfactory and hopeful.
Private TAYLOR is a member of the Battalion Band, and before the war broke out he was employed by Messrs. HOPKINS and SON, New Street, Ledbury, in the coachbuilding department. Being well-known in Ledbury the news was received with much regard, and it is to be hoped that he will make a complete recovery.
