February 10 The Royal Hall, Ledbury, was opened the occasion being the Fire Brigade annual supper, Major PALAIRET presiding. All the speeches were in commendatory terms of Mr. E. H. HOPKINS for his public-spiritedness in supplying a long felt want in the town.

May 1 In the evening the second and last concert of the season was given by the Ledbury Musical Society at the Royal Hall, when the programme was of a miscellaneous character.

May 7 Mr. S. H. BICKHAM delivered his interesting lecture on " The British Navy ” in the Royal Hall, under the auspices of the Ledbury Habitation of the Primrose League, before a large audience.

May 27 Ledbury Hunt Keepers’ Dinner was held at the Royal Hall.

June 24 Cheltenham Dramatic Society performed Byron's Comedy. " £100,000" in the Royal Hall, in aid of the Cottage Hospital.

September 16 Ledbury Cycling Club brought their season to a close by a grand illuminated procession, which was very successful; collections were taken en route for the Cottage Hospital A dinner was held afterwards at the Royal Hall, followed by a smoking concert.

February 17 The Ledbury Oddfellows held a very successful concert and soiree at the Royal Hall, in aid of their benevolent fund.

March 11 the Bishop of Hereford addressed a large meeting (under the auspices of the Church of England Temperance Society), in the Royal Hall, when an adult branch of the society was formed.

March 22 Mr. Ben GREET’S Company produced “The Sign of the Cross” to a crowded audience in the Royal Hall.

April 22 the annual dinner to the Ledbury Hunt Keepers was held at the Royal Hall.

April 29 a dinner to the Tewkesbury Troop of the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars was given at the Royal Hall.

May 27 Mrs. SUMNER, President of the Mothers’ Union, addressed a large gathering of Mothers, in the Royal Hall, after they had visited the Church and Ledbury Park.

January 17 The Eastnor children performed the fairy play “Princess Perpetua" (songs and music by Lady Henry SOMERSET), in the Royal Hall, the proceeds being in aid of “The Bird’s Nest,” Duxhurst

August 6 Bank Holiday. The Hospital Carnival and Historical Pageant was held at Ledbury Park. The show was a brilliant success, there being over 4,000 people assembled in the Park. The streets were densely crowded as the long procession, headed by the excellent Cwm (Newport) silver band, wended its way through the town, and on entering the Park the Carnival was formally opened by Lord and Lady BIDDULPH. A flower show and a baby show was also held in conjunction with the Carnival. The grand finale of a memorable clay was the fancy dress ball, held in the Royal Hall in the evening, when there were about 300 dancers present. The nett profit accruing from the Carnival amounted to the very satisfactory sum of £125 11s. 8d.

December 12 At the Ledbury Grammar School “speech day” and prize distribution, held at the Royal Hall, there was a large attendance of pupils, parents and friends. Mrs. RAYNER-WOOD presided, and Mr. F. S. PRESTON, M.A. (headmaster of Malvern College) distributed the prizes and afterwards gave an encouraging address.

February 20 Ledbury Musical Society annual concert, when Parry’s “Pied Piper of Hamelin” was given to a crowded audience at the Royal Hall.

February 26 Variety concert at the Royal Hall, promoted by the Ledbury branch of the League of Young Liberals.

April 10 Women’s Unionist Association concert at the Royal Hall.

May 6 A crowded audience at the Royal Hall witnessed a dancing display given by the pupils of Miss Grace DOVEY in aid of the Children’s League of Pity, and a sum of £19 12s. 9d. was realised.

July 30 Court House School annual sports and prize distribution at the Royal Hall.

September 4 A large audience assembled at the Royal Hall on the occasion of a violin recital by Mr. Harold BERKLEY, of New York, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. BERKLEY, The Homend. The proceeds were in aid of the Cottage Hospital, the sum of about £30 being realised.

December 10 Opening performance of the Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society, when “The Man from Toronto” was presented at the Royal Hall.

December 18 The pupils of Ledbury Grammar School gave a very successful performance of John Masefield’s play, “The Tragedy of Nan", at the Royal Hall.

February 7 Ledbury Women’s Unionist Association entertainment and concert at the Royal Hall. The programme consisted of six scenes for ‘Nicholas Nickleby’ (Charles Dickens) and a fairy play entitled ‘In Already@ given by the pupils of Mrs MARSHAM, Coddington Rectory. Mr J.P.L. THOMAS, prospective Conservative candidate for the division, addressed the large audience during an interval.

February 12 Handel’s ‘Messiah’ was excellently performed by the Ledbury Musical Society at their annual concert in the Royal Hall.

April 23 A three-act operetta, ‘Pearl, the Fair-maiden’ was given at the Royal Hall by the Ledbury League of Young Liberals, the performance being repeated on the two following nights before crowded audiences.

May 5 Annual dancing display at the Royal Hall, given by the pupils of Miss Grace DOVEY in aid of the Children’s League of Pity, when a net profit of £18 13s 5d was made.

May 25 Ledbury League of Young Liberals dance at the Royal Hall.

August 3 The annual sport, fete and flower show, organised by the Ledbury British Legion, which was built on Pound Meadow, was favoured with fine weather and proved a most successful event, a crowd of upwards of 2000 attending the show. In the evening a fancy dress ball was held at the Royal Hall, at which there was a large attendance.

September 5 Concert at the Royal Hall for the benefit of Miss Betty THOMPSON, a little girl who was permanently injured in a motor accident outside her home in New Street.

October 6 Ledbury was visited by the touring choir of the National Children’s Home and Orphanage, when the Royal Hall was crowded, the proceeds amounting to upwards of £15 in aid of the orphanage.

October 29 The Royal Hall was filled with parents and friends of pupils on the occasion of the annual ‘Speech Day’ and prize distribution in connection with the Ledbury Grammar School.
